frequently asked questions

do you take reservations?

Jazeker! Email us at borreltoronto@gmail.com if you’d like to book a table. We typically try to limit reservations to a table of no more than six people. Also, please be advised that we have a small kitchen and that if you are dining with a large group, meals might not all be brought out at the same time.

can we book borrel for a private party?

Zeker weten! We’ve hosted many private events to great success in the past. Email us and let us know the date and details. Cost will depend on time and day requested. Also, we’ve found that for larger events, it is best to agree on a menu ahead of time, which is typically served cocktail-style. But we’re open to whatever you might have in mind!

do you do takeout?

Oh man, I would’ve told you before that we really prefer not to. But we can’t deny that for a while there, takeout was our only source of revenue! But now that we’re back to indoor dining, we are primarily focused on our customers who are spending time here. So any same-day takeout requests will be by the discretion of the kitchen. We totally appreciate you might want some bitterballen or other snacks to serve at your house party, so in order to avoid disappointment, please email us your order with as much advance notice as possible. Bedankt!

do you have gift cards?

rumour has it you host rijsttafel (indonesian "rice table") every month?

It’s true! We host a rijsttafel — an elaborate Dutch-Indonesian meal consisting of fried rice with numerous exotic dishes with unique and exciting flavours — once a month. It is almost always on a Sunday evening. Seating is limited and purchased through reservations. Email us and we can add you to our mailing list so that you get a heads up when we confirm future dates. For more information about the rijsttafel, click here.

who does your artwork?

nanna-bewerkt.jpg

The amazing Nanna Koekoek! Since the start of our pop-up days, our dear friend Nanna has been there to help promote us through her incredible artwork. She spent nearly a week in our basement working in isolation and subsisting on just bread and water (just kidding! … Sort of. Haha) to complete the incredible mural of the Netherlands and a who’s who of famous Dutch people in our washrooms. She has also designed a T-shirt for us, which you can purchase here. To see more of Nanna’s work and to get in touch with her, visit www.nannakoekoek.com.

anything we didn’t answer?
